e-learning

Girlguiding have some new e-learning programmes about the role of a section leader, these are a nice little resource for new leaders or as a refresher for more experienced leaders. These are available in the learning and development area of the Girlguiding website. The subjects include: Being a Leader, Section programmes, A Safe Space, New Programme and the role of a mentor.

First Response

Throughout the year we will be holding first response trainings across the county, these cover the basic first response syllabus which will be covered on the course. A refresher course is available for those who have previsouly completed the full course. Don’t forget that all units must have someone with at least First Response and it is also part of the Going Away With Scheme.

Passing on your skills and knowledge

In Guiding we are great at developing the skills and abilities of others around us, girls, young leaders, new leaders but often forget to continue to develop our own skills. Well one way of developing your skills at the same time as being able to pass them on to others within Guiding is to become a trainer. It’s not as hard as you may think, simply register, get assigned a mentor and work through the training scheme with them. You’ll be guided and supported through the process, learning the skills of planning, delivering and evaluating learning experiences. The scheme will allow for any skills you already have to be accredited, so if you think this challenge is for you please get in touch as we need you to expand our training team within the county!!!!
