International and Training update
Welcome to your Update from Girlguiding Middlesex East!
Middlesex East International Selection Weekend
We are once again running our fantastically successful International Selection Weekend so please make sure your girls know about this. Here are Letter to Parents 2017, flier and Home Contact and Consent 2017 forms or please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
During the weekend girls can discover International Guiding, learn about Guiding in other countries and cultures, and find out about exciting opportunities to travel the world and make a difference. Throughout the weekend, they will meet other members of Girlguiding, try their hand at preparing international cuisine, and get out and about in a wide game that will need all their teamwork skills!
During the weekend, the team will also be selecting girls to represent the County on International trips in the summer of 2018. The 2018 destinations will be Cambodia, Malawi, India (Sangam) for the 14-18s, and an 18-26 trip with the destination to be decided by the participants.
So please encourage your girls to come along, and find out what it’s all about.

Trefoil Guild goes international
International travel is not just for younger leaders – did you know the Trefoil Guild has an international element? Well our very own Pam Daniels has been selected to be one of 8 Trefoil Guild members for a TOPAZ 17 Action team to go to Russia in October 2017.
Topaz is the Trefoil Overseas Partnership, Adventure with Zest.
Although Girl Scouts started in Russia about 1910 it was disbanded in the 1920s. It then restarted in 1990 as part of the Federation of Scouts and became an independent organisation in 1994, a member of WAGGS in 1999 and a full member in 2008, They are very proud of this but struggle to pay their membership. In1998 there were 1,158 members but there are none in Moscow.
Pam has several ideas for fundraising including a fundraising Prize Bingo afternoon, from 4.30 to 6.30pm on Sunday March 5th at Saint Peters and St Pauls Church Hall, Ordinance Road Enfield EN3 6AB.
Wouldn’t you just know it – we had just booked our County Day when we were told this clashes with the National Trainers conference so not only would our trainers be busy but so would most trainers in the country! So we have changed the date. It is now
Saturday 6th May from 8.30am to 4.30pm at Alexandra Park School so please unsave the old date and save this one instead.
Our next First Response training is on 11th February so if you have not yet booked your place please complete the application form here and contact our Training Coordinator, Sandra Hall, urgently at firstname.lastname@example.org . See below for more dates.
